Happy third anniversary-third week that is- to Miss Saigon Star Kevin
Gray (who plays that dastardly Engineer) and Dodie Pettit, who was Christine
to his Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera in Chicago.
Gray and Pettit tied the knot in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.
They were wed in the chapel Of The Bells, where scores of celeb couples,
including Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford, said their “I do’s.”
“I was told there were thousands of celebrity marriages,” Gray
said, “but they only had two celebrity pictures on the wall- Ernest
Borgnine and Mickey Rooney. Mickey’s was inscribed ‘Thanks
for numbers four and six.’”
It was a real Las Vegas kitschy ceremony complete with the accompanist
playing the Elvis tune, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With
You.”Gray was amazed at how easy it is to get hitched in Vegas. “You
go to city hall, give them $35 (for the license) and that’s it.
No I.D., no blood test. We said, ’What if we aren’t the people
we say we are?’ They said, ‘That’s your problem.’”
*Dodie’s note- No, I wasn’t Christine to Kevin’s Raoul… and
it wasn’t Chicago…. I was Christine to Kevin’s Phantom
in Philadelphia, for one. But hey the rest is right.
